Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is a
nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture movers. She
is English--, Welsh- -, Irishand Scottish. Rachel began acting as an adult. By
the age 13 she was in Shakespearean performances at summer theater camps.
Following graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in
Theater. Following her first appearance in the episode of Disney's The Famous
Jett Jackson (1998) In 1998, she starred as a co-star on the Canadian TV show
Slings and Arrows (2003), a comedy-drama about the trials and tribulations of a
Shakespearean theatre group. She also won an Gemini award for her performance
in 2003.Her breakthrough role in the role of Regina George in the hit comedy
Mean Girls (2004) instantly brought her to the top of the list of the top
Hollywood's young actresses. After that film she was cast as the opposite of
Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a huge success at the box-office,
and was soon the top romantic drama for the new generation of moviegoers. After
the film was completed, McAdams and Gosling became romantically involved and
dated through the middle of 2007. McAdams her next film was the comedy Wedding
Crashers (2006), the action thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas drama
The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent filmmaking through
Married Life (2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also
included Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper along with Patricia Clarkson.
Following her roles in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The
Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams starred alongside Jude Law and Robert
Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's global blockbuster Sherlock Holmes. McAdams
portrayed the plucky producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen
Wilson's materialistic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then
returned to romantic drama in The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams stars
in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi
Rapacace in Brian De Palma’s thriller Passion (2012).
